The savings challenge, which ran from May 1 through September 30, enabled TCU to support participants on their savings journey and promoted financial literacy with unique tools, programs, and incentives. The credit union offered Knowledge Base, their free online resource containing courses on a wide range of financial topics to help individuals build savings and make informed financial decisions. Additionally, recognizing that good savings habits start early, Travis also hosted eight Generation Wealth workshops during the course of the challenge, educating students in Solano, Contra Costa, Napa and Yolo counties. Finally, the overall campaign was wrapped with cash giveaways to incentivize savings behaviors.
Over the five-month campaign, nearly 84,000 participating members increased their savings balances, with those members achieving a median savings improvement of $530 above their prior savings behaviors. The results demonstrate the power of simple, consistent saving behaviors and the positive impact that targeted engagement and financial encouragement can have on financial well-being. In recognition of members’ commitment to building stronger financial habits, Travis Credit Union rewarded five participants with $7,500 each, awarding a total of $37,500 in cash prizes.
“Congratulations to everyone who participated in the savings challenge to celebrate Travis Credit Union’s 75th Anniversary,” said TCU President and CEO, Kevin Miller. “Financial literacy in our communities remains a core priority for us at Travis. It starts with small, achievable steps, and even setting aside a few dollars each month is a meaningful accomplishment that we can all be proud of.”
