The 16-week paid program is designed for experienced professionals, with initial outreach focused on individuals in Solano, Contra Costa, Yolo and Napa counties who have taken time away from the workforce and are ready to return. Participants will join TCU as a paid, Returnship participant and gain hands-on experience, professional development and mentorship while contributing meaningful work that supports TCU’s mission of improving financial well-being in the communities it serves. At the conclusion of the program, participants may be considered for regular employment based on mutual fit and business needs; others will complete the program with new experience, professional connections, and transition support.
“We believe career breaks should never be barriers to opportunity,” said Catherine Johnson, Chief People Officer at TCU. “Recently, we welcomed two outstanding professionals whose experiences reflect the spirit of our Returnship program – one who had stepped away from the workforce to focus on family and another who took time to reset and reflect after a layoff before beginning their job search. Their experiences are a reminder that talented people take different paths, and our Returnship program is designed to help them confidently reconnect with meaningful careers.”
Through the program, participants will:
- Gain real-world, resume-building experience in a supportive environment
- Receive mentorship and professional development opportunities
- Build connections across multiple TCU departments
- Explore potential long-term career opportunities within the organization
The program reflects the credit union’s ongoing commitment to workforce development, inclusion and community investment. By providing structured pathways back into the workforce, TCU aims to expand access to meaningful careers in financial services while strengthening its talent pipeline.
