As a member-owned, member-focused organization, our priority is the well-being of our members, staff, and volunteer officials. We decided to move the scheduled April 23, 2020 Annual Meeting online, to avoid a large gathering in a confined space.
Our first-ever online Annual Meeting included much-needed good news. Board Chair Pat Moreno and CEO Barry Nelson shared that TCU’s financial performance in 2019 exceeded 2018’s, and several thousand more people became members of our credit union! They also explained how we’ve supported our members during the difficult times of the pandemic.
Two members were elected to full, 3-year terms of their own after filling in the remainder of the terms of two board seats vacant since January:
Brian Howell
Brian is an Enterprise Performance Consultant for the CFO at SMUD in Sacramento. He has experience coordinating and planning annual budgets and managing business planning and performance teams. He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance) from St. Mary’s College of California, and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting from California State University in Sacramento. Brian previously served as a Supervisor, Business Finance – Customer Energy Solutions at Pacific Gas & Electric in San Francisco, where he created a custom portfolio cost model, performance dashboard and compliance tracking tool. He’s a Member of Travis Credit Union’s “Volunteer at Large” Board of Director program (Class of 2019) and has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. Brian was elected to the Travis Credit Union Board of Directors for a three-year term in May 2020.
James P. Kirkley
JP is the Associate General Counsel for VSP Global in Sacramento. He has led corporate strategic and tactical legal initiatives and has experience advising senior executive management on company strategies and their implementation. He holds a Juris Doctor and earned a Certification from the Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology Law (CETL) from Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, where he currently teaches as an adjunct professor. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Biola University. JP started his legal career working in private practice and subsequently served in various legal and operational leadership roles at Salesforce.com and Oracle. Prior to that he had a distinguished career in management consulting and leading corporate development initiatives for public and private companies. JP was elected to the Travis Credit Union Board of Directors for a three-year term in May 2020.
