Credit Union Philosophy

Member-owned credit union cooperatives operate under the principle of “people helping people." Travis Credit Union is committed to doing what’s right for our members. We are always working to improve technology to make it easier to do business, while assisting our members in all their financial needs.

Continuing the Legacy

When Travis Credit Union was formed in 1951, the credit union movement in the United States was still in its adolescence. Credit unions are built on the philosophy to help people save and borrow more affordable. This makes credit unions special and as such the federal government has always granted not-for-profit status for financial cooperatives.

Our Board of Directors, Supervisory Committee and senior management are careful stewards of the resources our members put in their care. They believe in the genuine, personal way credit unions do business that sets financial cooperatives, Travis Credit Union in particular, apart from other financial institutions.

You’ve come to know our employees. They are friends and neighbors who see each other at school functions, the grocery store, at the mall and Little League games. Our employees are active in community events, youth programs, nonprofit organizations, and in local schools. Financial cooperatives such as Travis Credit Union help shape communities by making a difference in the lives of individuals and their families because we are from these communities ourselves.

Thanks to our member-owners we are able to bring credit union membership to even more people. We are committed to promoting financial literacy and contributing to the communities we serve by donating to organizations that meet social needs. We reach out to underserved populations to help them achieve financial well-being and to acquaint them with the credit union philosophy of “people helping people.”
