Miriam at our Woodland Branch recently helped an elderly member who was having difficulty managing his finances. His rent was raised and his monthly payments on his credit card and auto loan combined were more than $800 a month.

She listened to the gentleman’s situation and found financial solutions that lowered his monthly payments from $800 per month to less than $300 per month, saving him thousands of dollars in interest and freeing up much needed funds. She said the member broke down in tears and told her how thankful he was for her and Travis Credit Union.

Stories such as these occur every day at Travis, and these efforts help separate us from other financial institutions. We are truly advocates for your financial well-being, and we’re greatly expanding those efforts in 2019.

Introducing the TCU Foundation

Pat and I are excited to announce the formation of the Travis Credit Union Foundation, a non-profit organization that will help us advance our awesome cause of financial education, financial literacy and financial advocacy in the communities we serve.

This separate entity allows us to accept monetary donations that are completely earmarked toward this cause and that are tax deductible for donors. Read more about our TCU Foundation in this issue of Smart Money Matters.

Apply for our $2,000 Scholarship

The New Year also means we have begun accepting applications for our 2019 Mary Keith Duff Memorial Scholarship. We invite Travis members who are graduating from high school this summer and are attending college in the fall to apply for the $2,000 awards.

Free Tax Preparation Workshops

We are proud to partner with others once again this spring to provide the community with free tax preparation workshops. These sessions are designed for low-income individuals and families, and are open to the public. Membership is not required but appointments are requested.

Welcome Pleasant Hill!

This month Travis Credit Union will be holding a grand opening for our newest branch, located in the Crescent Plaza Shopping Center in Pleasant Hill. Branch Manager Will Peralta and his team are eager to introduce the benefits of credit union membership to their new neighbors as well as to welcome existing members to their newest branch.

Happy New Year!
