Twenty one high school students headed to college this fall are doing so with $1,500 scholarships from Travis Credit Union. Congratulations to our 2016 recipients of the Mary Keith Duff Memorial Scholarship, a program aimed to help collegebound Travis members with college expenses.
This annual scholarship program demonstrates the credit union’s commitment to higher education in the communities we serve. This year’s winners received their awards on June 8 at a ceremony in the Community Room of our corporate offices in Vacaville. The finalists were selected by the Scholarship Committee, which is comprised of credit union board members, volunteers and senior staff.
The committee thanks every student who applied for these awards. There we so many applicants for our 21 scholarships that we decided we needed to add one more this year! We’re proud that our members include some of our best and brightest local high school graduates around. Good luck on your endeavors!
Applying for 2017 scholarships
If you will be a high school senior this fall and are a TCU member in good standing, you’re eligible to apply for this scholarship for fall 2017. You’ll need to submit a letter from one of your high school teachers, an official copy of your transcript and a summary of your volunteer activities.
A 250-word essay describing your education and career goals is also required. Applications will be available in branches and posted on www.traviscu.org on January 1, 2017. We encourage graduating high school seniors to apply at that time.
