The hottest gifts of the 2016 Holiday shopping season

We’re in the heart of the 2016 Holiday shopping season. To help you more efficiently find that perfect gift for that special someone, here are some of the hottest gifts of the Holiday season as of late November.

Toys

Automated electronics

Who can forget the thrill of operating a model train set or a remote control car? Even with the explosion of personal technology over the past two decades, the toys of yesteryear are still enjoyed by children and parents alike. Lionel train sets and a slew of automated electronics can easily be found online at numerous shopping sites, including some with good discounts. If remote control cars are your thing, a miniature replica of a Lamborghini Veneno could be the perfect gift.

Toys that construct

If the person you’re shopping for is more the hands-on type who enjoys problem solving, consider gifts that are more complex as well as fun to put together. Lego or portrait puzzles, K’NEX or build-it-yourself playhouses can all make for constructive gift-giving.

Electronics

It’s not too late to take advantage of great deals. Here are some popular items that had good Black Friday discounts and continue to be on sale by retailers:

Fitbit Alta Fitness Tracker

This wearable technology monitors your daily steps and exercise activities. This watch syncs with the Fitbit app on your mobile device to record and display activities such as steps, miles, calories and other health-related data. It can automatically sense when you start exercising.

GoPro HERO5 Black

This next generation of video camera can shoot 4K video and 12-megapixel photos, and introduces new features such as voice-control actions. The HERO5 Black is also waterproof to depths of 33 feet without an external clear-plastic case (required on previous models).

Electronic home accessories

Amazon Echo and Amazon Echo Dot

The Echo, along with its smaller sibling Echo Dot, are meant to be all-inclusive devices which can control audio broadcasts from its speakers, and even read the news for you. It can also control devices in your home that are compatible with it, including lights, switches and thermostats.

Google Home

A competitor to the Echo, the Google Home can do a lot of what the Echo can do. It made its debut last month and has a price point that is lower than Echo’s $180 retail price.
