In the Community - Spring 2017

Cal Grant Presentations

Hundreds of high school students gathered on January 20 for a Cal Grant Presentation hosted by Travis Credit Union at Contra Costa Community College. TCU proudly supports this campaign to provide financial aid information to students that will help them understand how Cal Grants can enable them to attend college and reach their dreams.

Mad City Money

Mad City Money, Vallejo school system, financial literacy, community service

On March 4, Travis Credit Union’s financial education and management team spent the afternoon helping Vallejo teens at the credit union’s Mad City Money program. This popular and long-running program gives youth a sense of adulthood as they’re taught basic money management and budgeting skills.

Military Saves

Military Saves Week, Financial Education, TAFB

In February, Travis Credit Union proudly participated in Military Saves Week. Each year, we motivate and encourage service members and military families to save money, reduce debt and build wealth through a week of financial focus and education. (Depending on photo) Here’s a photo of a Military Saves Week event featuring interactive children’s sessions followed by a KUIC Coffee Break at our TAFB Branch on February 27.

CUNA Govt Affairs Conference, Feb. 2017

On February 26, Travis Credit Union executives and representatives joined thousands of credit union leaders at the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, D.C. As a credit union, we are dedicated to standing together and sending a united message that our members matter.

Travis Credit Union has partnered with the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program to bring free tax return services to our community this past February and March. Residents in Solano and Contra Costa counties had opportunities to reserve a free tax session appointment at the Richmond and Dixon branches, as well as our corporate offices in Vacaville.

Shred Event

Travis Credit Union sponsored two shredding events this past spring, on March 18 in Richmond and March 25 at our corporate offices in Vacaville. The free event offered on-the-spot document shredding to help residents protect personal and financial information from identity thieves.
