NorthBay Health and Travis Credit Union Announce Winners of its Collaborative Scholarship Program

NorthBay Health joined forces with Travis Credit Union in announcing the winners of its collaborative scholarship program, NorthBay Health and the Travis Credit Union’s Nursing Scholarship to invest in the future of Touro University California student nurses in the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program.

“This support is not just an investment in my education; it’s an investment in improving healthcare delivery and community health,” says scholarship winner Jill Cac.

For Tayler Tildsley, receiving the scholarship is a financial and morale boost. “The scholarship gives you a boost of confidence that you’re worth it, and that someone believes in your ability to advance your career so much that they invest in you,” says Tildsley.

For both students, winning the scholarship is a way to open doors for advanced educational opportunities to meaningfully contribute to the nursing profession and their patients’ wellbeing.

The NorthBay Health and Travis Credit Union’s Nursing Scholarship, established in 2015, aims to empower nursing students enrolled in Touro University California’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing to MSN degree program. Open to students in good standing, enrolled for the spring semester, and working at least half-time for NorthBay Health while maintaining a Travis Credit Union account, the scholarship encourages professional growth and aims to retain experienced nurses dedicated to serving the community.

With an annual fund of $30,000, the scholarship program has made a significant impact in increasing the number of advanced degree nurses.

A rigorous review process, led by Touro University California Assistant Dean and Director of the School of Nursing Dr. Prabjot Sandhu, a representative from NorthBay Healthcare, and Travis Credit Union representatives, ensures a fair and transparent selection. Applicants are evaluated using a comprehensive rubric based on criteria such as academic standing, community involvement, and commitment to nursing. The goal is to disperse the entire $30,000 scholarship fund to deserving individuals.

“We are proud to partner with Touro University and NorthBay to sponsor the Master of Science in Nursing scholarship,” says Steward Pimienta, Community Engagement Officer for Travis Credit Union. “It’s an investment in our community, in health care, and in those people who choose to make a difference in people’s lives.”

Community Impact: The NorthBay Health and Travis Credit Union’s Nursing Scholarship is a testament to the collaborative efforts of both organizations in fostering a strong, skilled, and dedicated healthcare workforce. With 29 scholarships granted to date, the program has made a tangible impact on the lives and careers of aspiring nurses.
