In the Community - Winter 2017

Travis Credit Union is intensely focused on making a difference in the communities we serve through our unique emphasis on financial education, financial literacy and financial advocacy. This is our opportunity to develop valued relationships, and help our members and neighbors achieve their financial goals. Here are a few highlights from events that we were privileged to participate in over the past few months.

Driving Clean

On Nov. 3, 2016, members in our community shared how they benefited from a pilot program offering residents in targeted disadvantaged neighborhoods the opportunity to purchase fuel efficient and ultra-clean vehicles. They were appreciative of the benefits of financial savings and reduced air pollution in their neighborhoods. Travis Credit Union was pleased to partner with the Community Housing Development Corporation (CHDC) to bring this needed program to our community.

We hiked the hill

Last September, our Corporate Relations team visited Washington D.C. to advocate on behalf of our members. Behind the scenes, we are very active in making sure your financial interests are heard and protected. One of our highlights was meeting with six members of the House of Representatives on important topics like regulatory relief and data security.

Juntos Avanzamos

Travis Credit Union shared a festive celebration Sept., 23, 2016 which included live music, dancing and plenty to eat. The event was in honor of receiving the first Northern California Juntos Avanzamos designation (translated, “Together We Advance”). We are proudly committed to serving the Hispanic community in providing financial services and asset-building opportunities.

Mad City Money

On Nov. 5, 2016, Travis Credit Union’s financial education and management team spent the afternoon helping Woodland teens learn basic money management skills many of us wish we would have learned at their age. We consider it a privilege to be able to positively influence young lives in our community with training that will help them develop a solid financial foundation and help them make important future financial decisions.
