Windows 10 awaits for PC users

As you’ve probably heard by now, Microsoft is offering free upgrades to Windows 10 for users of Windows 8, 8.1 – and even Windows 7. However, there is some confusion about the process, so here a few bullet points on the big details of the upgrade program:

Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1.1

These are the versions you would be running if you want to get that free upgrade. Users of Vista, XP and other versions of Windows will have to pay.

You can go back to your older version of Windows

Once you upgrade to Windows 10, if you don’t like Windows 10. However, you will only have one month after upgrading to do so under the program.

You will be able to reinstall, including a clean install, on the same device. You won’t need a product key for re-activations on the same hardware.

Microsoft insists that Windows 10 is the most thoroughly tested version of Windows ever. You will not be getting a beta version with your free upgrade but the full production model.

According to industry experts, Windows 10 does address many of the complaints users have had about 8/8.1. It still offers the fast startup of 8 but promises an easier transition for people who are used to Windows 7.
