The season of giving is upon us

The holiday season is a great time to reflect on our many blessings and yearlong memories. This year, consider giving back by contributing to a charitable organization. There’s no better gift than helping to improve the lives of others. Here are some ways to get involved:

Gift a monetary donation

Are you struggling to find a gift for that person who has everything, or maybe you want to gift something that will actually be put to good use? Giving the gift of a charitable donation in your loved one’s name is such a priceless gesture that they’re sure to enjoy. Research different organizations to find a cause both you and your recipient are passionate about.

Just be sure that your organization of choice is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and registered with the IRS. For more information, visit the Exemption Requirements at irs.gov.

Donate your own belongings

Now is a great time to go through your wardrobe and clean out those unworn clothing pieces and those gently-used household items. Donating your own belonging can help declutter your home for the new year to help you focus on what’s really important in your life while providing quality items for those in need.

Donate locally

At Travis Credit Union, we take pride in our community involvement. As one of our last fundraisers for the season, we’ve partnered with UC Davis Children’s Hospital and Children’s Miracle Network to help local children with serious illnesses and their families feel the warmth of the holiday season.

Travis is currently accepting monetary donations at all branches. If you’d like to participate, please visit any TCU branch and help decorate with a holiday stocking.

One hundred percent of donations received will be distributed directly to the UC Davis Children’s Hospital. No donation is too big or small as we are tremendously grateful for your generosity.
