Travis CU Brings Holiday Joy to the Community

December 16, 2020

Vacaville, CA – Although the pandemic has slightly changed how Travis Credit Union gives back to our community this holiday season, it hasn’t impacted our level of support and commitment to ensure programs we’ve partnered with for years are still provided for and championed. As we have done for many years, TCU reached out to the community through many different programs, including participation in the Children's Miracle Network Holiday Stocking Campaign, the Travis Air Force Base Festival of Trees Auction and Christmas Wish 2020, among others.

"Financial wellness is at the heart of everything we do," stated Barry Nelson, president and CEO of Travis Credit Union, "and we are proud to participate in giving back through these programs to help our members, neighbors, and community make the most of the holiday season."

TCU continues to be a proud supporter of the Children’s Miracle Network through the 2020 Holiday Stocking Campaign. Instead of hanging paper stockings in the branches this year, the Travis Credit Union Foundation created a page on its website to display virtual stockings, each one representing a member donation. One hundred percent of funds raised through December 31 will be distributed to the UC Davis Children’s Hospital and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland to help reduce the financial burden on families with sick children. Please visit tcufund.org and join us in supporting this vital need in our communities.

TCU was again a proud sponsor of the TAFB Festival of Trees Auction supporting the TAFB Fisher House. The $10,000 contribution from TCU’s Board of Directors will help to cover operational costs of the Fisher House that hosts military members and their families free of charge while receiving extended care at David Grant Medical Center at TAFB.

In support and appreciation, TCU also annually participates with ‘Remember a Vet’ (Wreaths across America) in recognizing fallen veterans at the Annual Wreath Project, ensuring each veteran’s gravesite is honored at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery during the holiday season. And for the first time in 2020, TCU proudly sponsored the TAFB Chapter of Operation Homefront, providing 200 meals to service members and their families this holiday season.

TCU has partnered with the Christmas Wish initiative for the past 19 years, and in 2020, employees raised more than $7,100 and sponsored 142 children. The program ensures that less fortunate children are granted one wish that they have made for Christmas.

Because we’re committed to the health and safety of our community, instead of encouraging members to bring food into the branches this holiday season, we will continue to collect food donations in barrels placed at all our locations throughout the year, benefitting local food banks.
